Looks like most of the negative reviews don't understand what this cable is for. This is NOT used to output to a monitor. This is a video capture cable that takes input from an hdmi source and outputs to a USB device to record video.Example: you would connect this from your game console to a pc to record video being played from the console.The reason it will not work to display your computer to a monitor is because the hdmi part of this cable is the input, not output. Hdmi ports on monitors are input ports. No monitors have usb inputs for display purposes. Connecting the hdmi part of this cable to a monitor is the same as connecting an input to another input. There is no video to display.
