I received my weather station and eagerly opened it up and proceeded to set it up. Every step went flawless except the wind direction/speed part. Over the next 2 days I tried every step possible to make it work, (one of the steps involves putting the solar panel under a light for 8+ hours). Finally I was convinced something was broken. I emailed LaCrosse and 2 days later, had a response. They wanted me to repeat every step I had already taken (to make sure) I did, and it still did not work. 2 days later they had provided a return authorization and I sent my unit back (the parts they thought were defective), I waited about 2 weeks and finally my replacement arrived. I immediately started at the top - and within 2 minutes I had everything working perfectly. I installed my unit outside and as of now (about a month later) it is working perfectly. I currently have my weather station uploading to weather underground and weather bug! I read some of the reviews and it is true about having to go thru a re-sync if the computer has to shut down for whatever reason. I don't have to worry so much about this, as I have a dedicated computer just for my station. I was disappointed when trying to sync with my Mac computer - there are a couple of programs out there that do work with LaCrosse stations and Macs, but none of them work with this particular model (at least I could get it to work). So I bought a cheap older model PC just for it, and it worked out fine. If you want to use this model and upload to WB or WU, get the program weather underground's heavy weather updater, its simple and works perfectly. So in conclusion:Quality control (works right out of the box): DLaCrosse help and responsiveness: BInterfacing abiltiy with a computer: D (doesn't work with Mac, uses propritory interface unit that works with very few programs)Overall satisfaction with unit: A (once I got everything working)
